CONTEST IDEAS
Here are some sport based contest ideas that might work for your chapter.
Individual game - run for 9 weeks - each week represents a different hole on the course.
TOPS – Score 1 point (Hole in One) if you have a repeat loss
(Loss last week and again this week)
Score 2 points (Birdie) if you have a loss
Score 3 points (Par) if you turtle
Score 4 points (Boogie) if you gain
Score 5 points (double Boogie) if you miss the meeting (no weigh-in)
KOPS – Score 1 point (Hole in One) if were below goal last week and again this week
Score 2 points (Birdie) if you are below goal
Score 3 points (Par) if you are right on goal
Score 4 points (Boogie) if you are above goal
Score 5 points (double Boogie) if you miss the meeting (no weigh-in)
The person(s) with the lowest score wins. PRIZES: Top three people will win.
1st Place – $10.00 / 2nd Place – $7.50 / 3rd Place – $5.00
NOTE: - If there is three or more people tie for first place, all winners will get $7.50 each. No other places are awarded.
- If there is a two-way tie for first place, add prizes for 1st and 2nd place and each person wins $8.75 each. The next place winner earns 3rd place prize.
- If there is a tie for 2nd place, add prizes for 2nd and 3rd place and each person wins $6.25 each. No additional places are awarded.
- If there is three or more people tie for second place, all winners will get $4.25 each. No additional places are awarded.
- If there is a two-way or more tie for 3rd place, each person wins $2.50 each.
Baseball Contest individual rules:
Individual game - run for 9 weeks - each week represents a different inning of the game.
TOPS – Score 4 runs (Grand Slam) if you have a repeat loss

Score 3 runs if you have a loss
Score 2 runs if you turtle
Score 1 runs if you gain
Score 0 runs if you miss the meeting (no weigh-in)
KOPS – Score 4 runs (Grand Slam) if were below goal last week and again this week
Score 3 runs if you are below goal
Score 2 runs if you are right on goal
Score 1 runs if you are above goal
Score 0 runs if you miss the meeting (no weigh-in)
The person(s) with the most runs WINS!
Same prizes as the golf game (see above)
Team game - points earn by team - prizes awarded individually - run for 9 weeks - each week represents a different inning of the game
Supplies needed:
- Round small tags labeled with A1 through A? and N1 through N?. The total tags you need will depend on your tops chapter membership. You will need an even number of tags for each team.
- Score sheets for each member
- Game board to show movement of each batter on the plate and record the innings outs and runs or have players from one team stand and mark home, first, second and third on the floor.
Rules:
- Only place enough tags of each team into the bucket for those in attendance with an even number from each league. If you have an uneven number in attendance you will need to put in an extra tag to even out the teams and the extra tag will become a strike.
- Each week two teams are created from those who weighed in, one American League and one National League. Each member will pull one tag for placement on a team and for their location in the batting line-up.
- Each week is a new inning. Run the contest for 9 innings.
- Members who are absent will score no points for the inning.
- Starting with one team and the first batter, move the players around the bases and record the outs and innings.
- (3) Three outs end the inning. No more members will be allowed to bat.
- After three outs or all the members have batted, each member will score the team points on their individual score sheets.
TOPS Baseball Game:
If you gain you get an out.
If you turtle you get a walk and move to first base.
If you lose you get a hit … but how big of a hit?
… lose .2 to .8 you get a double
… lose 1.0 to 1.8 lb you get a triple
… lose 2.0 lbs or more and you get a home run.
KOPS Baseball Game:
If you are out of leeway you get a out.
If you are above goal but in leeway you get a walk and move to first base.
If you are below goal but in leeway you get a hit . . . … but how big of a hit?
… below .2 to .8 you get a double
… below .1.0 to 1.8 lb you get a triple
… below 2.0 lbs or more you get a home run.

Weekly - MVP (Most Valuable Player) awards can be given. Purchase little baseball charms and give them out to each team's most valuable player. The person who scored the most runs for the week.

Score 3 points (3 point basket) if you are below goal
Score 2 points if you are right on goal
Score 1 point if you are above goal
Score 0 points if you miss the meeting (no weigh-in)

Team game - points earn by team - prizes awarded individually - run for 4, 6 or 8 weeks - each week represents a different quarter of the game
Supplies needed:
- Round small tags labeled with T1 through T5, O1 through O5, P1 through P5, S1 through S5, I1 through I5. !1 through !5 to spell T O P S I ! The total tags you need will depend on your tops chapter membership. These tags will produce 6 teams of 5 people each. You will need an even number of tags for each 5 member team.
- Score sheets for each member
Rules:
- Only place enough tags of each team into the bucket for those in attendance with an even number from each team. If you have an uneven number in attendance you will need to put in an extra tag to even out the teams and the extra tag will become ghost player and scores 0.
- Each week new teams are created from those who weighed in, at least two teams will be needed. 0-10 members in attendance = 2 teams. 11-15 members = 3 teams, 16-20 members in attendance = 4 teams, 21-25 teams in attendance = 5 teams, etc. Each member will pull one tag for placement on a team .
- Each week is a new quarter. Run the contest for 4, 6 or 8 quarters.
- Members who are absent will score no points for the week.
- Starting with team T and player T1, record the number of points they earned.
- Each member will score the team points on their individual score sheets.
Each week, create new teams of 5 members or less.
TOPS – Score 3 points if you have a loss
Score 2 points if you are a turtle
Score 1 points if you have a gain but you stay for the meeting
KOPS – Score 3 points if you are at or below goal
Score 2 points if you above goal but in leeway
Score 1 point if you are out of leeway but you stay for the meeting
The person with the most points wins the game.

Weekly - team awards can be given. Purchase little basketball charms and give them out to each member of the team who scored the most weekly points. If a tie, randomly choose one winner.
Individual game - run for 9 weeks - each week represents a different frame of the game
RULES:
Miss a meeting and score two gutter balls.
TOPS – Have a loss and score a STRIKE
Have a turtle and score a SPARE [5 ] [ / ]
Have a gain and first ball is a gutter
Second ball score a 5 if you stay for the entire meeting
Otherwise you score a gutter if you leave.
KOPS – Be at or below goal and score a STRIKE
Be above goal but in leeway and score a SPARE [5] [/]
Be out of leeway (above or below) and first ball is a gutter
Second ball score a 5 if you stay for the entire meeting
Otherwise you score a gutter if you leave.
NEW MEMBERS – Join during the contest and score a SPARE [5] [/] the week you join.
The person with the most points wins the game.
